Toshifumi Nomura (M.D., Ph.D.) received the M.D. in 2002 and Ph.D. in 2009 from Hokkaido University (Prof. Hiroshi Shimizu), Sapporo, Japan. He worked as a visiting fellow at the University of Dundee (Prof. W.H. Irwin McLean), Scotland, UK (2008–2010). After returning to Japan, he was assigned as an Assistant Professor (2010–2016) and an Associate Professor (2016-2020) at Hokkaido University Hospital. He was promoted to his current position, a Professor and Chair at University of Tsukuba, in 2020. His research interest is in the field of genetic skin disorders, particularly ichthyosis and palmoplantar keratoderma. Currently, he is keen to unveil the molecular mechanisms underlying revertant mosaicism, mutant mRNA/protein degradation, and readthrough.
