Today, beyond its beautiful nature scenery, Taiwan adds with a charming cultural heritage and modern facilities such as the cloud-piercing Taipei 101 tower. The frenetic 24-hour pace-of-life leaves no doubt about the cosmopolitan nature of its capital city, Taipei, and out-of town, the contrast between city and countryside.
The towering heights of majestic Mt. Jade and the connected peaks stretching north and south enrich the island’s geologic landscapes. The soaring sacred trees of Alishan and the terraced tea plantations of Sun Moon Lake, both call out for a forever-remembered visit.
In eastern Taiwan at time of the autumn harvest, the landscape is transformed into a vast sea of golden rice. The beauties of the vast Pacific, the tranquil rural landscapes of Yilan, and the awesome Taroko Gorge in Hualien—all attract the eyes of the world.

On heritage, the National Palace Museum houses the world's largest collection of priceless Chinese art treasures, one which spans China's nearly 5,000-year history. Most of the museum's over 600,000 art objects were part of the Chinese imperial collection, which began over 1,000 years ago in the early Song dynasty.
On city life, we recommend the Raohe Street Night Market, 600 meters in length, near Shongshan Railway Station. There are various shops and stands in the night market. It presents Taiwanese characteristic and is definitely a place worth visiting.
The famous Yangmingshan Hot Springs, bestowed from the volcanic activity of the Yangmingshan National Park, has given birth to a number of hot springs: mainly of the white sulfur variety, followed by green sulfur springs. There are several spring resorts with luxurious or natural setting in the area. The Yangmingshan National Park's natural ecology, geological landscapes, and mountain cuisine further make it a good place for a half-day visit.
Shuinandong, Jinguashi, and Jiufen are former mining towns in Ruifang District, New Taipei City. In Shuinandong, the abandoned "13-Level Smelter" evokes the image of Pompeii. The Yin Yang Sea, with its yellow and blue waters, and the beautiful Golden Waterfall are other attractions here. Jinguashi is a quiet hillside town. And along the old lanes of bustling Jiufen, one can find gold mines of history and culture. Together, these areas offer welcome comfort to the world-travelers and provide plenty of food for thought.
